The game takes place in a world where its inhabitants can't remember their dreams, if they ever had any. There is a legend of a land named Phantomile where dreams get sucked in as the land's life source. Klonoa - a young cat/bunny-like boy - has been having dreams lately and can remember all of them down to the last detail. One dream in particular had a ship crash land near his home. And soon afterwards an airship does crash land on a nearby mountain. Klonoa, along with his friend Huepow - a ring spirit who gives Klonoa a special ability - go to investigate the crash.
Klonoa can use his ring to capture enemies and use them as a balancing surface that will let him jump in mid air or throw them at far away objects. Namco managed to use such a simple game concept in so many creative and diverse ways by having some different enemies that Klonoa captures have different abilities as well as constantly inventing new spins for the game's obstacle design.The game's levels are beautifully designed, the plot is very well done and can be very heartwarming as well as sad, and the drop dead gorgeous music is reason enough to play the game. It really is such a wonderful game that it does me some good just by playing it.
