As Germany I like to play historicaly but my question is if it's a good idea to contruct CAS. At first I thought having my Junkers Jus on a CAS mission give my troops on the ground an bonus in combat (additional to air superiority) but I've never seen such a bonus. Instead it seems that the CAS are bombing random troops in the air region. This would be fine if the bombing really hurts the enemy (destroying equipment and manpower) but the question is if it really hurts the enemy or if it just an inconvience for them and I should save my IC for other things.

Air superiority mission efficiency bonuses increase the attack, defense and agility of the wing. Close Air Support mission Edit. Available for: CAS, Tactical Bomber, Jet Tactical Bomber Close air support, also known as ground support, is the use of aircraft to assist troops in land combat. Soviet Union had bigger air force, so I put all my air force in Ukraine region and let them have the rest - they mostly wasted it on bombing my infrastructure in Poland instead of close air support. By the time the war ended I lost half my air force anyway, as well as any hope of invading UK this year.

A CAS wing basicly helps a random engagment in the air zone its assigend to everytime it takes off (twice in 24h). In the fights it damages the organization and the HP of a random division and afaik a random batallion in the fight. The orga dmg is pretty self-explanatory but the HP dmg is interesting.

Since HP represents the equipment and manpower of the division CAS indeed damages those two things directly and can not be avoided. CAS is especially effective against low hp units like artillery and tanks, while high HP units like infantry dont recieve a lot of damage.

So even though the direct orga damage is still effective against pure infantry CAS only really shines against a heavy artillery build or a lot of tanks, since equipment destroyed by them not only has to be replacd but also lowers the combat efficiency of the division in question until it is restocked. With the way the air combat works at the moment, where Fighters can do everything(kill enemy fighters, kill enemy bombers/CAS, and give massive penalties to enemy divisions), and considering the AI will spam thousands of planes, and given the fact that it's almost impossible to rebuild your air force in any reasonable amount of time if the enemy has an advantage.CAS is not worth it. TAC is not worth it. STR is only worth it for nukes, which are not worth it.All you ever need is Fighters. And more Fighters. You can branch out only into NAV, if you have carriers.
